Astrology of the now: mercury retrograde and more
You probably have noticed unusual levels of conflict/strife/drama and misunderstanding in the news, on LJ, and in real life. There's a matching astrological picture, too.
(Mercury is the itty bitty zippy baked rock located nearest the sun. Chiron is either a stray mega-sized asteroid or a dead comet in orbit between Saturn and Uranus. Neptune is a gorgeous toxic icy blue ocean between Uranus and Pluto way (way) far away from here.)
Here's what's going on:
Sunday morning, Chiron turned retrograde. That means we're all feeling ultra aware of people's hurts and need for healing. That goes for our own hurts and need for healing, too. But a lot of people lash out when they feel pain or weakness, or else misspeak badly because they can't articulate what they mean very well in the moment. This effect will ease up in the coming days; it's just especially intense right now.
Add to that:
Late yesterday morning, Neptune turned retrograde. That means the things in our lives that are somewhat nebulous or relate to things like dreams, image, medication, drugs, being stoned, having visions, creating awesome PR spin, etc. will be intensified for a while. Neptune is *really* slow, since it's so far out there, so there's less overt effect. Instead, it's more like a slowly pervading undercurrent. Normally, it's so subtle you don't notice it except at the station points between direct and retrograde motion.
Now here's the trigger:
Mercury stationed retrograde yesterday morning, too. As we know from looking at Mercury stations past, Mercury is related to all things involving messages, communication, travel, reservations, etc. Imagine the god Hermes zipping around the planet on his magic flying sandals trying to manage all this stuff for everyone -- except when there's a Mercury station, he goes flying over a concrete barrier in the road and has twenty million new hurdles and obstacles he has to wriggle around, over, and through, ALL while juggling his normal job, too. Stuff gets dropped. Things fall through the cracks. Motion slowwws downnnnn. And it becomes a time to revisit, remember, reconsider, return, reminisce, realign, rewind, and redo.
Mercury retrogrades are intense and relatively fast. This one will be over June 19, at 9:31am CDT, just in time for the Sun to oppose Pluto at Summer/Winter Solstice.
Here's the link to my post from the last Merc Ret back in January, in case anyone wants more information. :)
